HUD Older Adults Home Modification Program (OAHMP)

Project Overview

Green River Society (GRS) is proud to be a recipient of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Older Adults Home Modification Program (OAHMP). Through this initiative, GRS provides no-cost home safety and accessibility improvements to help older adults in Talladega County, Alabama age safely and comfortably in their own homes.

The program focuses on fall prevention, mobility enhancement, and independent living, offering modifications such as grab bars, ramps, improved lighting, accessible bathroom features, and flooring repairs. Each home is assessed by licensed professionals to ensure modifications are tailored to the individual’s needs and living environment.

By combining engineering expertise, community partnerships, and person-centered design, GRS helps older residents live safely, preserve dignity, and reduce hospitalizations caused by preventable home hazards.
